An Equal Partnership

In our society, it is popular for people to fell like there needs to be equality. I do believe in equality, but I think that people are morphing what is really true. Man and woman, husband and wife, they are equal partners. Man and women were created differently to complete each other. We work perfectly hand in hand for raising children and creating a home of peace. We are equal partners with different roles who love and support each other.

Lesson: Equal Partnership Between Men and Women

Scripture:

“Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners.” (The Family: A Proclamation to the World)

Lesson:

Who is in charge at home, mom or dad? Moms and dads are equal partners. They both work to help the family. They talk about things together and decide things together (do object lesson). They both try to bring all of those things (from the scripture) into the family. How do they do this? What can they do better to bring happiness into the family?

Object lesson:

Use books to show how moms and dads both do work. Have two stacks of books, place a book on one stack and say “This is mom cooking dinner”, than place another on the other stack and say “This is dad paying the bills”, do this a few times to show that mom and dad have equal piles and are partners in what they do (So sometimes dad cooks dinner and sometimes mom mows the lawn or whatever else they switch up).

Activity:

Have a family council and talk about how we can bring “faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities” into our home. Come up with a plan on how each person will try to work on one of the things in order to help the family.

Always Dating

When I first heard the idea of always dating your spouse, I thought it was so dumb, don't you get married so you don't have to date...
